From 2-8 June, civil society in Norway and Denmark united with 70 countries around the world marked the Global Week of Action Against Gun Violence. Throughout the week, Defend International highlighted the need for stronger measures to stop the proliferation and misuse of small arms and light weapons.

DI member organisation: Babylon National Human Rights Association held a conference on the proliferation of small arms and light weapons in Iraq. Participants stressed the need to educate and enlighten next generations of the need to build peace rather than conflict between nationalities.

DI member organisation: The Democratic Organization for National Office of Drinking Water has arranged several events on the occasion of 2008 Global Week Of Action Against Gun Violence.
