In September 2013, the Security Council adopted Resolution 2117 (2013) Dedicated to Question of Small Arms and Light Weapons, which is the first-ever resolution dedicated exclusively to the issue of small arms and light weapons.

In June 2013, the full text of the historic Arms Trade Treaty was published by the UNODA. It is worth noting that the founder of Defend International, Dr. Widad Akreyi, helped pioneer this international agreement, which was adopted in April 2013 and entered into force in December 2014.

The General Assembly proclaims this Universal Declaration of Human Rights as a common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations, to the end that every individual and every organ of society, keeping this Declaration constantly in mind.
