The memoir of co-founder of Defend International, Dr. Widad Akreyi, has been released. The book chronicles her experiences and the events that have shaped her life.
Dr. Widad Akreyi, a multiple award-winner for her human rights activities and co-founder of Defend International, welcomes the opening of the first Armenian church in Erbil and asks regional leaders to respect the rights of Christians in the MENA region and protect them from religious persecution.
Dr. Widad Akreyi, co-founder of Defend International, was presented with the 2018 International Woman Harmony Award for devoting her life to defending human rights. She received the award on November 23rd at the Signorelli Theatre in Cortona during a ceremony broadcasted by RTV 38.
In an article published in the summer 2018 issue of the UNESCO-APCEIU’s publication SangSaeng, Dr. Widad Akreyi, co-founder of Defend International, opened up about her childhood experiences and why she decided to dedicate her life to the service of humanity from a very young age.
Dr. Widad Akreyi, co-founder of Defend International, was presented with the Pacem in Terris Peace and Freedom Award by Bishop Thomas Zinkula. She became the youngest recipient of the Pacem in Terris Award and the first Pacem honouree to meet the mayor of Davenport and to be presented with the Davenport medal.
Co-founder of Defend International has been selected as the recipient of the 2017 Pacem in Terris (Peace on Earth) Peace and Freedom Award for her lifelong commitment to justice and peace. The Most reverend Bishop Thomas Zinkula will present the Award to Dr. Widad on October 22nd in St. Ambrose University’s Christ the King Chapel in Davenport, USA.
