Defend International co-founder Dr Widad was invited as a gust speaker to an event held at Falster Hotel by Rotary International in Denmark. She talked about violations of human rights in Iraq under the previous regime and drew attention to the importance of upholding and complying with human rights and fundamental freedoms.

Co-founder of Defend International, Dr Widad, attended the 52nd session of the Commission on the Status of Women, held at United Nations Headquarters in New York, from 25 February to 7 March 2008. Committed to gender equality, women’s empowerment and human rights, DI representatives joined thousands of other attendees from around the globe.

Norway: DI At Ceremony of the Nobel Peace Prize
