Jordan: Letter Of Thanks To His Majesty King Abdullah II

A child suffering from leukaemia wasn’t able to receive proper treatment in Iraq. Defend International contacted His Majesty in Jordan and asked for his help, and thanks to Jordan’s generosity she is now on the road to recovering. In a formal letter, Dr. Widad Akreyi extended her heartfelt thanks to His majesty King Abdullah II.

Background information

A little Iraqi girl could not receive the care and proper treatment she so desperately needed as a leukemia patient. In some parts of Iraq, core public health services such as medical treatment, vaccination services, vector-borne disease detection and control are disrupted. Sometimes there are no drugs for leukemia patients.

Her Dad contacted Defend International to help his daughter. We on our part, contacted His Majesty in Jordan and asked for his help. Thanks to Jordan’s generosity she is now on the road to recovering.

On 6 May 2008, DI president Dr Widad Akreyi expressed formally her heartfelt thanks to His majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein .

The letter was as follow:

LETTER OF THANKS FROM

PRESIDENT OF DEFEND INTERNATIONAL

TO HIS MAJESTY KING ABDULLAH II BIN AL-HUSSEIN

KING OF THE HASHEMITE KINGDOM OF JORDAN

Norway
Date: 6 May 2008

Your Majesty,

We would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation for all kinds of help provided by the office of Your Majesty and by King Hussein Cancer Center to the Iraqi girl Sammaa Hussein Shawqi who suffers from leukemia.

I am reflecting the profound gratitude of our members when I thank you and the Jordanian people for the kind reply to our letter on February 18, 2008, and for all that Your Majesty has done for this little girl and, in particular, for generously giving her and her father permission to enter Jordan and financing her treatment at the center.

On behalf of myself and the organisation I represent, I wish the Centre and all those involved in its operation continued success and fruitful work for the benefit of science and people in the region.

We wish Your Majesty and the Jordanian people good health, happiness, lasting progress and prosperity!

Sincerely yours,

Widad Akreyi

President of Defend International
