Our colleagues have published a new report on Germany’s extraterritorial obligations under CEDAW and the Arms Trade Treaty related to arms transfers to India, Iraq, Mexico, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia and their impacts on women.

During a press conference held in Peshawar today, Mr. Zar Ali khan Afridi, Defend International coordinator in FATA and the chairman of the Tribal NGOs Consortium, denounced the restrictions imposed on human rights defenders and civil society in FATA and Pakistan.

As a member of the Cluster Munition Coalition, Defend International has sent a letter to the European Mint Directors Working Group, urging them to remove the South Korean company Poongsan from its list of vetted suppliers.

Defend International welcomes the abolishment of FATA Education Rationalisation Policy and encourages the Pakistani authorities to increase their commitment to respecting the right to education, which implies that any measures that may hinder or prevent children from accessing education must be avoided.
