OSLO — Defend International formally issues a solemn condemnation of the coordinated terrorist attacks executed against the Paris offices of Charlie Hebdo, the Hypercacher kosher supermarket, and adjacent commercial centers, which resulted in the tragic loss of 17 innocent lives, including 8 prominent journalists. Defend International extends its profound condolences to the families of the victims and reaffirms its absolute, unwavering solidarity with the French Republic.
These calculated acts of violence constitute a direct assault on the fundamental right to freedom of expression and universal human security. In immediate response, Defend International is launching a worldwide campaign titled “Save the Free World: Ensure the Security of Civilians.” The overarching strategic objectives of this global mobilization are two-fold: to build heightened international awareness regarding emergent asymmetrical threats and to pressure sovereign states to deploy immediate, robust policy frameworks to secure civilian populations across all jurisdictions.
Sovereign governments must proactively review national security apparatuses to intercept domestic terror operations. Defend International maintains that legislative bodies should structurally evaluate the enactment of non-negotiable legal bans on radical organizations and extremist networks that constitute clear, demonstrable threats to national safety.
