Six Ahwazi-Arabs are currently awaiting execution. In a joint campaign, Defend International and Ahwaz Human Rights Organization call on the Iranian authorities to halt their execution.

DI has several times expressed deep concern over the recent upsurge in violence in South Yemen, calling the Yemeni government to ensure the safety of civilians.

In August 2007, two young Sahrawis were arrested by the Moroccan security forces. DI launched a campaign, urging the Moroccan authorities to release them immediately and unconditionally unless they have been charged with recognizable criminal offences. In September 2007, one of them was released.

Syrian authorities arrests a 70 years old man, who suffers from health problems and his fate still unknown. Defend International calls upon the authorities to release Mr. Habib immediately and unconditionally unless he is charged with a recognizable criminal offence.
