On the occasion of International Human Rights Day, DI member Mr. Zar Ali khan Afridi, executive director of Society for Rights and Development FATA-Pakistan, issued a statement on the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) in Pakistan.

On 8th November 2014, Mr. Rozh Ahmad, a freelance journalist, interviewed Dr. Widad about the status of human rights in MENA region, the massacre of the Yazidis by the Islamic State, and the current situation in Kobane.

Dr. Widad was awarded the 2014 International Pfeffer Peace Award for her worldwide work for peace and justice. Listed as the first Scandinavian citizen, the third European citizen and the first Kurd to receive a Pfeffer Peace Prize, she dedicated her award to the Yazidis, the Christians, and residents of Kobane.

DI is pleased to inform its members and friend of a new article published recently about the talented Edisun band and their generous support of the Yazidis’ plight. “While the World’s Asleep,” a short poetic ballad from rock band Edisun is being shared by DI to raise world awareness about the ongoing persecution of the Yazidis.
