Defend International coordinator in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), Mr. Zar Ali khan Afridi, has issued a brief report on violations of human rights in FATA, where the residents are by law deprived of three basic human rights namely, (1) appeal, (2) wakeel and (3) daleel.

Defend International raises concern about the increasing number of terrorist attacks on soft targets and urges the international community to redefine its objectives to meet the challenges posed by armed conflicts and terrorism.

Defend International condemned the decision taken by the government of Pakistan to put the renowned journalist, Mr. Cyril Almeida, on the Exit Control List and called on the authorities to refrain from imposing any restrictions on media freedom.
