📜 International Conventions &
Framework Alignment

Welcome to the Defend International (DI) Conventions Portal.

Defend International’s global advocacy, medical research, and field tracking operate in strict alignment with established international humanitarian laws, human rights treaties, and global disarmament frameworks. Rather than operating in isolation, our work bridges local health diplomacy with binding multi-lateral accords to enforce state compliance and defend human dignity.

Below is the structured index of the core international declarations, treaties, and United Nations resolutions that form the absolute foundation of our organizational mandate:

🕊️ Global Disarmament & Security Accords

  • The Arms Trade Treaty (ATT)
The landmark global treaty regulating the international trade of conventional arms, preventing illicit cross-border arms diversion, and curbing armed gender-based violence. Defend International leadership played a crucial, historic role on the ground at the United Nations in New York, directly lobbying government delegates and international policy makers to secure this maximalist global accord.
  • UN Security Council Resolution 2117 (2013)
An exclusive UN framework dedicated to combating the illicit transfer, destabilizing accumulation, and systemic misuse of small arms and light weapons—pioneered and successfully lobbied with the direct mobilization of DI leadership.
    • UN Programme of Action on Small Arms and Light Weapons (PoA)
A comprehensive international commitment to prevent, combat, and eradicate the illicit trade of small arms in all its aspects across global crisis zones. Since 2007, Defend International has consistently attended the UN Biennial Meeting of States (BMS) and UN General Assembly (UNGA) Interactive Hearings with NGOs as an accredited civil society observer. Through high-level floor addresses—including our prominent 2010 address championing a global “Culture of Peace”—we have continuously mobilized international policymakers to enforce strict compliance with this Programme of Action.
    • Convention on Cluster Munitions
A binding humanitarian treaty that strictly prohibits all use, production, transfer, and stockpiling of cluster munitions to protect civilian populations. As a formal member of the global Cluster Munition Coalition (CMC), Defend International actively fights alongside international partners to uphold this critical humanitarian norm and completely eradicate these indiscriminate weapons.

⚖️ Universal Human Rights & Fundamental Treaties

      • Optional Protocol to the ICCPR
The mechanism establishing the right of individual victims to submit complaints directly to the United Nations Human Rights Committee.
